Share your blessings and drawings of your colorful world with a young ORBIS' beneficiary!

2012 marks ORBIS' 30th anniversary of saving sight. Over the years, we have transformed millions of blind people's lives. Among them was an 11-year-old Inner Mongolian boy called Zhang Tianshan. In 2009, ORBIS found and successfully treated Tianshan's congenital strabismus and amplyopia (Read more). Three years on, this cheerful and optimistic teenager will be visiting us in Hong Kong this October!

We warmly invite all children in Hong Kong to join our 2012 ORBIS "Draw for Sight" Contest and unleash their artistic talent and love by sharing the joy of sight with Tianshan! Our six winners will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent kids all over Hong Kong by personally presenting Tianshan with their drawings and blessings. Each winner and one of his/her parents will also enjoy a fun-filled day out with Tianshan at Hong Kong Disneyland!

Details

Theme:

Scenery/ Thing in Hong Kong which I would most like Tianshan to see

Objective:

Encourage children in Hong Kong to pay closer attention to the people and places around them. Through drawing, kids can unleash their imagination, express their passionate love and better understand the message "the best way to add to one's happiness is to share it".

Submission deadline:

October 19, 2012 (Date of receipt is determined by the post office date chop)

Age of participant:

6 to 12 y.o.

Drawing requirement:

One entry per person. Entries must be drawn on 29cm x 38cm (±1cm) white paper, using any medium including gouache, watercolor, pencils, crayons, pens, etc.

Donation:

HKD30 or above * To save administration costs, receipts for tax reduction will only be provided for donations of over HKD100.

Winners:

<The Most "LIKE" Award - three winners>
Starting from September 24,2012, we will begin posting photos of all entries received in the 'ORBIS "Draw for Sight" Contest' album at ORBIS Facebook fan page in the order which we receive them. Visitors are encouraged to click "LIKE" to vote after clicking "LIKE" on the ORBIS fan page and becoming ORBIS' fans. The three entries with the most "LIKE"s will win The Most "LIKE" Award. (Facebook voting period: September 24 to 6pm October 20, 2012).

Entries will be evaluated by 20 judges of ORBIS based on: adherence to theme,
artistic ability, composition, design, originality, creativity and uniqueness.

Prize:

Six winners accompanied by a parent can visit Hong Kong Disneyland with Tianshan on October 28, 2012. Special thanks to Hong Kong Disneyland for sponsoring the park tickets.

Every entrant will receive a "Thank you" certificate this November.
Winner announcement: All six winners will be personally notified and publicly announced on ORBIS Facebook Fan page on October 21, 2012.

Enrolment method:

Download and complete the enrolment form and send it together with your child’s drawing and a cheque for your donation (made payable to "Project Orbis International, Inc. ") c/o Helen Yeung, ORBIS Hong Kong, Rm12, 1/F, Victoria Centre, 15 Watson Road, North Point, Hong Kong, marking your envelope “ORBIS Draw for Sight Contest”. Please write your child's name on the back of the drawing and cheque for easier checking

Terms and conditions:
1) Entry must be original and unpublished hand-drawn work by participant. Participants who give false information or
violates the above rules will be disqualified.
2) Participants must grant ORBIS the right to use their entries for promoting sight-saving messages and/or other campaigns.
3) In the event of any dispute, ORBIS reserves the right of final decision.
