It’s so hard for sighted people to fully comprehend the difficulties facing the blind within a couple of hours. However, being in complete darkness for a short period of time will not just allow you to experience being totally sightless first hand, it will also encourage you to cherish and share your gift of sight with others.
While food will be a lot less appetizing in the dark, one tastes each bite with renewed appreciation. To experience the difficulties facing the blind for yourself, we are now delighted to invite you to our first-ever Blackout Dinner on Thursday October 10, World Sight Day.
Totally sightless, you will be served a four-course meal made up of surprise dishes which you will not discover until you take your first mouthful (we will arrange according to the needs of vegetarians and sufferers of food allergies)! We will also ask you to undertake various challenges designed to stimulate all your non-visual senses. Before dinner, everyone will be given an ORBIS World Sight Day pin they can wear and help spread our sight-saving message.
Who knows, if you’re lucky, you might take home a limited-edition premium set of five pins!
So support our sight-saving efforts by coming to our World Sight Day Blackout Dinner! To secure places for yourselves and your loved ones, please complete and return the online enrolment form on or before September 19. If the number of applicants exceeds available seats, attendees will be selected by lot. Selected participants will then be notified by email from September 23 onwards.
