Sandra was deeply touched by the story of Tian-shan and hopes all blind kids have the chance to regain their sight and hope. |
On the trip to Inner Mongolia in March 2009 as ORBIS Kids Sight Ambassador, Sandra Ng felt her heart sink as the hardships facing the preventably blind youngsters there has wiped away chances of their smiles. In a letter she worte, "It struck me then that the scariest thing for the kids was not the tumor, but the terrible fear."
Yet happliy, the sight-saving surgery on a seven-year-old strabismus and amblyopia sufferer, Zhang Tian-shan, has quickly turned right around his life. "Best of all, when I saw the gratitude in Tian-shan's Mum's eyes after her son was discharged from hospital, I realized this incredibly brave youngster wasn't the only beneficiary of ORBIS donors' kindness," Sandra said.
"By letting children see your smile and making a donation, you will ensure ORBIS can make a difference by saving countless thousands of these children's sight."
